Kids’ Standard Magazine, a non-profit organization, is a publication that is first of its kind. Children are the primary authors of their magazine.
Students from preschool through high school can contribute their creative, and writing to share their talent with the community.
Kids Standard Publication is a group of parents, students, teachers and volunteers with the staff and Board of Director’s at the core of its leadership.
Maggie Razdar started the organization in 2009 when her two sons were in middle school.
She said she felt that “many children started to lose touch with reading, writing and researching due to the obsessive influence of digital technology.”
Kids Standard aims to fill the wide gap between school, parents and community.
The magazine provides a space for children, parents, educators, teachers and other community members to share their thoughts and have a better understanding.
“This can be achieved through reading just as much as through writing,” Razdar said.
In 2011, Razdar and her family relocated to Clarkston, Michigan from Syracuse, New York.
She began working with local schools to provide students with the opportunity to share their voices in her publication.
The first Michigan-based issue of the magazine was released in March of 2015, and immediately received outstanding feedback from parents, teachers, students, and local professionals.
Maggie has not looked back since.
“We have a group of highly experienced and passionate members at the Board of Directors, who are committed to continuous improvements and success of the organization’s activities,” Razdar said.
Their goal is to circulate the magazine to encourage the youth to get more involved in their community and explore their talents.
Razdar is passionate about inspiring children to succeed in areas of their interest.
“Even more important than writing itself is the process of doing research, learning, and thinking, which develops dispositions of a good writer,” Razdar said.
Razdar’s educational background includes a degree in Chemical Engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. She also studied Metaphysical Science and holds a number of business and technical certifications.
Razdar is an active member of many local organizations, including the National Association of Professional Women.
In 2000, she was recognized in ‘The Elite Who’s Who!’ and received ‘The Outstanding Female Business Owner’ award in recognition of her ability to help others achieve excellence and strong leadership skills.
Along with her professional achievement, Razdar’s greatest achievement is her two sons.
Her sons are students at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
She said she hopes to make a change in students’ lives to become proud of them as she is of her sons.
Kids Standard Publication works to empower kids to read, research, learn and write.
Students are encouraged to showcase their creative skills to their community.
